We will organise an open day with guided tour to the Hungarian Meadow Viper Centre near Kunpeszér on 28th May 2011. At the moment there are more than 500 strictly protected Hungarian meadow viper living in the institution that can be found in the Kiskunság National Park. We hope that the snakes will be repatriated to their former habitats, from where they disappeared decades ago because of intensive agricultural activities. We have very little chance to meet a Hungarian meadow viper in the nature, so watching these reptiles from 2-3 meters is a memorable experience for every ages. By the end of the month the the snakes’ mating season will be over so we will be able to walk among the terrariums with no major disturbance to them. During the 2.5 hours long program our education manager will guide the visitors all over the nature trail, which shows the characteristic landscape of the Kiskunság, and she will present our unique conservation program.
We will meet at 10:00 am in Kunpeszér in front of the minimarket. We will depart by cars on dirt road until the start of the nature trail, and then we will walk to the Centre.
