We were invited to France in June by the local staff of the LIFE project „Conservation of French populations of Orsini’s viper (Vipera ursinii) – (Vipère d’Orsini)”. Bálint Halpern and Dávid Brankovits, who represented our society, were joined by two Croatian colleagues to participate in the monitoring action of the project at Orgeas site.
During the three field days we found 11 Meadow vipers (Vipera usrinii ursinii), and 3 Asp vipers (Vipera aspis), out of which nine snakes were implanted with the microwave transmitter of the harmonic radar subcutaneously. The aim of the research is to localise the territories of the vipers, and define their movement dynamics. A selection of photos of the event can be found in the gallery of our website.
