Thanks to our recently started mobile exhibition, the activity of our education officer and the success of the Earth Day event, already ten thousands have met the Hungarian Meadow Viper Conservation Program in the first half of 2011.
The mobile exhibition, set up in 15 institutions so far, has drawn the attention of 4.000 visitors. The two series of the 8 posters (at certain locations additional photos, maps, documentaries, and snake-makets were exhibited) have travelled around several regions of Hungary. From September it will be available for educational, social and cultural institutions free of charge. The map of exhibition locations can be seen here:

Almost 40 presentations – in the Hungarian Meadow Viper Centre, and other institutions – were listened by audiences of 4.000 persons altogether. Our education officer, Ezsébet Herbót’s lectures about the species and the conservation activities were interesting for all ages. We organized an “open day” to the Viper Centre with unexpected success, about 100 laymen and professionals participated in the program. The map of presentations’ location can be seen here:

The traditional Earth Day Festival was visited by more than 70 thousand people, three times more than last year. We presented our program in Budapest Zoo, Tropicarium, and Győr Zoo. Beside these locations our information points, with an information boards and brochure holders, can be found in all other Hungarian zoos and wildlife parks. Additional information boards were installed in villages near viper habitats. The map of these information boards can be found here >>
Of course our program will continue, therefore we wait everybody on 3rd September, when we hold the third time the Hungarian Meadow Viper Day. This time, beyond seven zoo locations, we will exhibit on the Terraristic Fare in Óbuda. Furthermore on the first weekend of October everybody can meet us in several zoo events connected to World Animal Day. We still continue to provide chance for visiting Hungarian Meadow Viper Centre, but only by appointment.
